The transformation of memory institutions in Europe and in the CR with focus on their "media acts"
Fridrich, Tomáš ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Sekera, Martin (referee)
The aim of the thesis "Memory institutions on the threshold of the 21st century: media activities of the National Film Archive and the Deutsches Filminstitut" is to explain the context in which the archives are acting, and in particular explore specific media operations of two leading European film archives. The focus of the first part of the text is to describe the changing conditions mainly related to digitalization. The traditionally rigid institutions must adapt to this new conditions if they want to onform to the standards of cultural institutions of the 21st century. The main part of the text then analyzes the media actions of the National Film Archive and reference institution Deutsches Filminstitut. The thesis analyzes the specific media actions from onlinepresentation of the institution up to the work with journalists and, if necessary, proposes the optimization of existing processes. The reason of focusing just on media activities is the increasing need to develop new audiences, recruited from persons who were up to this moment not interested in the activities of the archives, and last but not least, the fact that a good media activity can be a compelling argument when approaching sponsors from the private sector. In the perspective of continual reduction of state contributions to cultural...

The methodology of preservation and presentation of multimedia data
Získal, Bohuš ; Bohuš Získal ; Cubr, Ladislav ; Berka, Roman ; Svatoňová, Kateřina
This methodology was created within the implementation of the project "Laterna magika. History and Present, Documentation, Preservation and Accessibility ”DG16P02H005 funded by the Program to Support Applied Research and Experimental Development of National and Cultural Identity for the years 2016 to 2022 (NAKI II). The methodology is based on the need to describe the procedures for the description, storage and presentation of digital information objects created during the processing of documentation of historical performances of Laterna magika and to define these procedures in such a way that they are applicable to other works of a similar nature. The methodology responds to a situation where at the national level, and for some specifics of the content or at the global level, there are no defined standards of care for this type of cultural heritage, which would cover all the necessary activities. The above-mentioned specifics include the form of a live performance using technologies and elements, which significantly contribute to the informational and aesthetic form of the work, and the combination of which as a whole is difficult to document. The methodology is intended for memory institutions, their partner organizations or suppliers who participate in the creation, processing, presentation and storage of data generated during the digitization, reconstruction and description of documentation of multimedia performances. Best practices and data structures take into account the situation where physical (data) objects related to works are in the collections of different institutions or individuals, and it is not possible or desirable to collect all physical objects under one common administration. The methodology was verified by the researchers of the project for the Národní filmový archiv, Prague, CESNET and the Institute of Intermedia at CTU FEE on selected data created for the presentation and preservation of historical performances of Laterna magika.

Cooperation berween selected secondary schools and memory institutions
Militká, Jana ; Mojžíšová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Nováková, Daniela (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the theme of the cooperation of selected secondary schools with memory institutions. In its theoretical part it defines memory institutions and sets them into legislative, historical and didactic context, as well as it concerns with organisational forms of teaching with the focus on the excursion, and teaching methods and methods used in programmes of memory institutions. The practical part familiarises with the research made by a questionnaire survey in selected secondary schools in Prague providing "maturita" graduation and with its results. The aim of this research was to realize if and how the cooperation with memory institutions is used at schools and how teachers and students perceive its benefit. The survey was accomplished in ten Prague schools. The sample was both in terms of quantity and course of study unrepresentative, but we can consider the research as beneficial. Almost half of participating teachers use the cooperation with memory institutions during lessons. Those, who not, often see the benefit of the cooperation for other courses than for their own courses. Students of all schools participating in the survey have the opportunity to take part in excursions to memory institutions during their lessons - the most often to museums and galleries. Two...
